The Backrooms Text Game
A downloadable game for Windows
Welcome to The Backrooms Text Game.
This is a text-based survival game set in the most famous liminal space of all, the Backrooms. Try to survive as long as you can until your inevitable death or with enough determination, escape the mono-yellow halls once and for all.
There's items for gather, wanderers to meet, and a few more unwelcoming creatures to escape from within the original Level 0.

Tried talking to a npc that joined me
So how does your sweat go down? Do you just wait? Or are consumables required to regain stamina?
I also can't seem to use any items.
For the first bit, I forgot to specify the name of the person and instead it says what it's referred to internally, oops.
As for sweat, that may be an oversight on my part. It seems the only thing to bring it down is using Adrenaline, food probably should but doesn't decrease sweat.
Lastly the items, any usage might not update properly until you move to a new room or check stats, otherwise you might be making a typo (check your inventory and use the name used there, don't forget to use capital letters).
Thanks for playing the game, hope this helps.
Not sure if this is a bug, but i'm trying to press "help" and it isn't working. nevermind, i think it's because i was using uppercase letters.
Does taking time affect random encounters? (I died before I could find anything). Other than that, this has amazing potential.
Hi, thanks for enjoying the game so far.
Had to take a quick look at the code to remind myself but basically internally every time you enter a new room a counter goes down by one and when it reaches zero, an "event" will occur and the countdown resets to a number between 10 and 100.
An event can be:
1. A Blackout
2. A Deafening Sound
3. Finding a Random Item
4. Finding a Corpse (free loot)
5. Human Encounter (Friend or Foe)
6. Entity Encounter (Deathmoth, Duller, or Hound)
7. sike nothing
Each event has an equal chance to happen so if you're going through rooms quickly, either you're getting very unlucky or have encountered some bug I'm unaware of. Hope this helps.
Thanks, however, your code is fine. I was just unlucky... great game!
